Onion Rings

Ingredients:

Yellow Onion - 1
All purpose flour(maida) - 3/4 cup
Corn starch (corn flour) - 1/4 cup
Water - 1/2 cup ( or enough to make thin batter)
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
Bread crumbs - as needed for coating.
Salt - as per taste
Oil - for deep frying

Procedure:

1. Cut the onion, separate rings.
2. Mix all dry ingredients ( all purpose flour, corn starch, baking soda). Add water and make a thin batter. Let it rest while oil gets heated.
3. If using "Deep fryer" set the temperature to 160°C. Otherwise heat the oil to that point that when you drop a drop of batter, it should sizzle.
4. Dip the onion in the batter and then coat them with the bread crumbs.
5. Fry the rings in oil, till they become golden in color. It may take around 7 - 9 min.
6. Take them out into a kitchen towel, add salt and serve with ketchup.
